Exhaustion

You know you are exhausted when you fall asleep sitting up at the computer, reading blogs, while you are breast pumping.

The Story of Karter's Birth.

The night before Karter was born I went with my friend Amy to the movies. I wasn’t expecting him to come that night, if I had been I would have been home getting ready!

Well, at 3:45am on Wednesday July 16th I woke up with a contraction and my water broke. This was the first pregnancy where my water actually broke on its own. I was nervous that I could go into hard labor and have him at any moment so we got to the hospital as soon as we could. They got me to a room and checked to make sure my water had broke. They were asking me all of the medical history questions and they still hadn’t checked my cervix. My contraction was still far apart, but they were getting stronger. They didn’t seem to worry because my contractions were so far apart. I was worried because I knew how fast I dilated.
The doctor finally checked me and I was at 5 centimeters. I wasn’t worried, I thought I should have a few hours to go. I got my epidural, my contractions were really hurting. My doctor checked me again, and they put me on pitoson to try and get my labor going. The contractions started coming faster and they were getting more painful, even with the epidural. I asked my nurse if I could turn up the epidural, but she said she had to check with the anesthesiologist first. He came in and talked to me for quite a while about epidurals and feeling pain versus pressure. I just wanted him to give me more drugs!!! He finally gave me more and the contraction pain went away. The nurse and the anesthesiologist headed out of the room telling us to get some rest and that they would be checking on us soon.
Well, not 30 seconds later the nurse hurried back in telling me to get on my side because baby’s heart rate was dropping. I was trying to move on my side with half my body pretty numb, worrying about what was wrong with my baby. She had me flip to my other side while the other nurse checked me and said that my baby was right there ready to come out. They got his heart rate back on the monitor and started calling for the doctor and getting me set up in the stirrups. It all happened SOOOO FAST!! We told them that is what happens with me, but I don’t think they thought it would be quite so fast.
The next contraction I gave three big pushes and one contraction later I gave three more and Karter was born. They put him right on my belly and I got to hold him there for over an hour!! It was so wonderful to bond with my son, to hold him for the first time, while Steve and I looked at all of his features. We are so glad he was born safe and sound. So glad that he waited to come and that he is doing well and staying healthy. We feel so blessed to have this baby boy.

WELCOME KARTER WALLACE!

KARTER WALLACE MOON!!

Well, he has officially arrived!! After such an eventful pregnancy, our new little addition is here!! He arrived Wednesday, July 16th at 7:33am weighing 7lbs 1 ounce and measuring 19 1/2 inches long!! He was 3 1/2 weeks early, so he was considered premature by just a few days. They did a few extra test and he passed with flying colors!! He is a good little nurser, sleeps a lot, and has a cute little squeally cry. He does not like to be undressed or have his diaper changed, and he loves to be swaddled tight in his blanket!!

We are so grateful for all the help we received throughout this entire pregnancy. Thanks to all our family and friends that shared meals, watched my kids, and cleaned my house. Thanks for great doctors and nurses. Thanks to my wonderful husband and children, for all their love and support. Thanks to a kind Heavenly Father for trusting us...again!

The Race, My Runner, and His Battle Wounds

The Primary put on a fun run yesterday morning and Jakob and Steve ran the 1/2 mile race. Jakob started out great and we were so proud of him. Just as he was weaving through and getting ahead of the crowd of runners, he went down. He totally scraped up his face, arms, and leg. I guess it took him a few minutes to calm down after he went down, but then he continued the run and finished the race with his dad. We were so proud of him!!

Here he is after the race with his medal and his battle wounds!! Poor guy! He is really sensitive about his face. It is probably because whenever he sees anyone the ask him anxiously, "What happened to your face???" He didn't want to go into church today because of his face, but he did. What a good boy we have.

My 2 Year Old

I can't beleive my baby girl is 2!! We had a great day together. We just had an afternoon party with family for cake and icecream and had presents, cousins playing, and a happy birthday girl. Very simple for this VERY pregnant mama to handle. After the party we went to dinner at the Sweet Tomato. Isabelle couldn't get enough of the Clam Chowder!! So funny to watch her enjoying different foods!! I couldn't shovel it in fast enough, she could barely wait for it to cool down.
I love this smile. She totally "cheesies it up for the camera, her face completely into her smile, eyes and nose all scrunched up!!
We got her a boy baby doll. I thought she could play with him when I had her baby brother. She loved him and wanted to hold him, wrap him up, put him in the carseat, and change his diaper. We also got her another gift that we ordered but won't receive until next week. I'll post pictures of that later. VERY EXCITED to give this other gift to her.
I have been working with her to hold up her two fingers. She has been trying so hard to do it on her own, but I have always had to help her figure out how to do it. This morning she woke up and we asked her how old she was and she held up her two fingers. She did it perfectly with no help. We kept having her do it all day!! This is the only picture I got of it!!
Isabelle shares her birthday with her Aunt Jaycine, so we had to get a picture of the two birthday girls together!!
She was so cute blowing out the candles. She blew so softly, but kept trying so hard. She got one out, but she kept working on that second one. It was so cute to see her trying and trying. She finally got it out!!
Happy Birthday my baby girl!! You are so loved and such a joy to our family!!

Washing The Car!!

My little Isabelle wanted to help her dad wash the car. He gave her the sprayer and had me go and get the camera. She was doing great and was so proud of herself!!
She turned the hose towards me as I was taking pictures.
Then Daddy got all wet!!

Bunk Beds

Anyone know of a place to order a great bunk bed?? I'm looking for something simple and modern in a dark wood finish.

I Love Sundays!!

I was able to go back to church today!!! It was so good to worship with others and to feel of the spirit!! I didn't realize just how much I missed it until I was able to go back and feel exactly what I had been missing. It was so good to be in class, to share in the lessons, and learn from the scriptures and others. I really appreciate our ward family so much. So many good, generous, amazing, and talented people. They have all been so good to us through this time when I couldn't take care of my family. Bringing us meals, taking my kids, cleaning my house, bringing me movies, books, etc. They really made this time go smoothly!!

Well, after church we came home, fixed a quick lunch, and took naps. I love Sunday naps!!! For dinner tonight Jakob and Steve made us French Toast and Scrambled Eggs. YUM!! Here are a few pictures!! Jakob was involved in every step, except for dipping the bread in the egg mixture. He said he didn't want to get his hands dirty, but that he would do it when he got older.

Sparklers And My Little Artist!

Jakob woke up this morning and drew this picture of himself holding a sparkler. I think he had fun last night!! When Uncle Colin was lighting fireworks last night Jakob said, "Uncle Colin, you can light more fireworks?? I like this!." I love seeing my baby have fun!!!

4th of July

We had a fun 4th of July with family. We had a barbecue, the kids played in the pool and ran outside, and ended the night with fireworks. Except for Isabelle, we all really enjoyed the fireworks. She spent most of her time with her hands over her eyes and her face pressed into her daddy's chest!!

Yes, she did hold the sparkle for a minute, but it didn't last long.
Here she is, seconds later, running from the sparkler!!
