9 Month Visit

Just took Karter in for his 9 month visit. He is doing great and was smiling and laughing for his doctor!! He has a little cold and has had a stuffy nose and a cough for the last couple days. The doctor said that it wasn't in his lungs or his ears, so she wasn't worried. He is also getting a couple more teeth on the top. He will have all eight of his front teeth when these two come in, and hopefully we will have a teething break. With all this going on I can't believe he was so happy through his visit.

Isabelle told me she was going to stay home from the doctor's office today. I told her the visit was for Karter and finally convinced her to come. She was sure to tell me over and over again that she did NOT need a shot. I guess she didn't like the flu shot she got at his last visit.

Shoe Choice

Lovely shoe choice. I have to watch this girl every second.

We did lunch in our muffin tins this week. It was a fun way to jazz things up and make lunch a bit more interesting. I just put different items in each tin (crackers, carrots, raisons, grapes, cheese cubes, etc.) It made eating each item a bit more fun!! I thought it might be a good idea to make something like this in the morning so the kids could snack on items when they want to. Something fun to do every once in awhile.

Look who got a haircut!! I just love it and it is so much easier to take care of!! I can brush her hair out and she is ready to go. I don't even have to pull it back out of her face! She calls her new bangs "boings." Jakob says she looks like Dora the Explorer. I think she looks so beautiful, so grown up!!

Spring Has Sprung

The planters are full of new flowers, the decks and the fence are stained, and we have been enjoying a few days of beautiful weather. Love my gerber daisies!! They are on our back porch. We have the front door/patio with planters full of purple and white. Lots of starter plants that will fill these pots in the coming months.
The patch of dirt by our parts still needs something. I've been thinking of a couple possibilities. Still trying to decide. The plants in the center of these pots are perennials. I'm so excited that they survived the winter in our pots and have come back this year. They are looking great!
And the kids have been excited to help. I just fill up their trusty water can and they run outside to water our plants.

A Bike Ride.

Now that it is warming up and we are getting some sunny days the bikes are coming out. How does one Dad take a 5 year old, a 2 year old, and a 9 month old on a bike ride? Well, here you go. I do worry about Isabelle on that tadem attachment, but she loves it and has survived so far.

Dora The Explorar

When Grammy and Gramply come to visit they bring gifts. They have done this so often that Jakob has come to expect it. This trip Jakob asked Grammy if she had brought him a surprise. Well, lucky for my boy Grampy got him a harmonica, some toy planes, and a dinosaur card game. As he was getting ready for bed that night he said in the sweetest voice, "Mom, I really like my gifts."

As for Isabelle, she loves Dora right now. She talks about Dora quite a bit. She often is Dora and I'm Boots, Jakob is Diego, you get the picture. Well, Grampy and Grammy got Isabelle a special surprise this trip. Yes, now Dora can be with Isabelle all the time. She was very excited.

Huish Visit

Can I tell you how much I love my family to visit!! I love, love, love it!!! The day that they leave there is such a shadow over our home, we just miss them so much and wish, oh how I wish, that we could live closer!

This trip was spent sitting around the house most days. All of our visitors got sick, with the stomach flu and with colds!! There were a couple miserable days. I felt so bad that they came and were sick. We just sat around most days. We watched General Conference the weekend they were here, got together for games, watch a few episodes of House, played some Dr. Mario, squeezed in a trip to the Zoo, but mostly just sat around.

Caught these two on the couch cuddled up in the blanket together. Love the times that they enjoy each others company!!

The Hunt

We had a great Easter Egg Hunt at the Robert's Home with family and friends. There yard was perfect for the hunt.

This little guy didn't do much hunting on his first Easter, but he sure enjoyed playing with the eggs.

9 Months Old

I can't believe my little man is 9 months old today!!!

What he is doing:
  • Talking a lot. Lots of da, da, da. He also loves to growl. He is making this funny throat thing everytime he laughs or cries.
  • He has two volumes. Quiet and happy. Crying at the top of his lungs mad. He really doesn't spend a lot of time in between. Either he is happy and content or he is not.
  • Rolling and scooting to get where he wants to go. He has never liked being on his tummy, so we have really had to work to get him on the ground. Isabelle hasn't helped!! She constantly is smothering him with her love and attention, thus making it difficult to keep the kid enjoying his mobility.
  • Eating lots of pureed food. He doesn't do great with chunks in his food, he just wants to spit them out, but he is getting better.
  • Still getting up once in the night and drinks a full bottle. We have attempted letting him cry it out, but we haven't been successful. I'm struggling with this a bit, both of my older kids were sleeping through the night at this point. One at 2 1/2 months, one at 4 1/2 months. I do have a plan that I will be implementing soon, so hopefully we will get this little munchkin sleeping all night long.
  • Smiles at everyone and will let anyone hold him. He is starting to get a little nervous when there are a lot of people and he can't see mom, but so far he still does great going to others.
  • Loves to play with toys. He is not content to sit, he has to have toys in his hands. Luckily I have lots of helpers to help me get this guy toys whenever he insist on having them or has dropped one.
  • He has 5 teeth and his 6th one is almost in!
  • Enjoys walks, bottles, tickles, soft blankies, "wrestling" with Daddy, the camera flash (always makes him look and smile), watching his brother and sister, bath time, chewing on books, trying to watch TV, as much Mom attention as he can get! Does not like his car seat, pureed brocolli, not being able to see Mom, changing his diaper right when he wakes up, Isabelle in his face, trying to fall asleep anywhere other then his crib!

I just love my little guy and am so grateful to him in my life. Just the other day a friend of mine mentioned that he was so worth the months of bedrest. He was worth that and so much more. I'm so grateful he is here with us, growing, thriving, and loving life.

Speaking In Church

I have been asked to speak this Sunday in church on how we can make our homes like the temple. I would love to get some of your ideas on things that you do to make your homes like the temple. Would love to hear your comments.

Fun Book

Jakob brought home this fun book from school this last week. We have never read the magic tree house books and we are starting with #2. Maybe we'll backtrack and read #1 next. Anyway, Jakob is loving this book, all about magically traveling to the time of knights and castles. Fun!!

Decorating Changes

The day after we had Karter's 8 month pictures I just had to run to Kohls, buy new frames, and frame up my 8 month photos of my three little ones. I love being able to see the differences/similarities between them. I use to think Karter looked a lot more like Jakob. Seeing them side by side, at the same age, I can see a lot of differences. I love these photos, love that I have these three people in my life.

I had to switch around the living room to create an area where the three photos could go. We have such a small area upstairs!

Here is the photo of all three of my munchkins together. I love it paired with the stair.

In our bedroom I have a current photo of each of our kids. Now Karter has joined the group. My boys sit on our dresser.

My angel girl sits on top of a bookcase in the corner. I love having photos of them in our room.
