Just got done helping my sister-in-law Melissa paint some of her new home. They have a beautiful home and I am so excited for them!!! I hope she post some pictures of her new home soon on her blog!!
I need to start painting some furniture. I've got a dresser, a couple desk, a table and chair set, a bookcase, and a couple other smaller items that I want to jazz up with a fresh coat of paint. I want to try Antique White by Benjamin Moore on a piece of furniture so I can decide if I want to do it on my cabinents in that kitchen. Anyone know any great tips for painting furniture?? Love to hear some advice.
Also, I got that plans back from our plan guy a couple days ago. I can't figure out how to post them or I would. I'm excited!! It looks good on paper.
Karter has such a hard time falling asleep anywhere buy his crib, SO I was very surprised when I found him asleep on the couch the other day. I asked Jakob to give him bottle and I guess he just couldn't stay awake long enough to finish it.
Such a beautiful sleepy face, LOVE how he is spread out, completely relaxed!
Switching to another topic. We have been busy moving lots of furniture around. We are getting ready to meet with a guy that will draw up our kitchen remodel plans and I just can't figure out exactly how I want it. We decided to buy a dining room table instead of waiting until after the remodel. I'm so glad we did. The space is interesting and I'm trying to visualize where we should put the table with the remodel. Now that I have it I'm moving it around with all the other peices of furniture, placing chairs and tables where our island or built-in bench may be. I keep praying I will get this plan right and be happy with the set up we finally decide on. I am feeling like it is coming together. LOTS OF TIME spent thinking about this and that, what would work best for our family, what would be of most value to us, etc. Hopefully I will be feeling great about everything this Friday so we can move forward!
So, this is the kitchen that I want to copy. I found this blog a couple weeks ago, searched kitchens, and fell in love!! So, white cabinets, mock farmhouse sink, cherry wood countertops on the island, quartz countertops everywhere else, subway tile backsplash, and she also has a different dark wood cabinet that houses her stovetop. Love it!! Wanting to copy almost everything. Of course it has to work with our floor plan. We are getting the plans drawn up this next week and hopefully will start demolition in a couple weeks!! I can't wait!
This kitchen was done by a lady that lives here in the Portland area. She listed so many of the brands and colors of the materials she used! I also emailed her and asked her a couple questions. She emailed me back with answers of a couple places here close where I could purchase the items. So excited, love the internet!
Also, I showed this picture earlier, but we have decided to copy the ceilings. (Steve's idea and I love it!.) We will have a long narrow island like the one in the picture so it should work out pretty much the same. Love the color on the cabinets, but planning to keep ours a bit more neutral.
Anyone who has been around our family this last year has noticed the crazy relationship between these two. Isabelle has been all over Karter since he was born! Squeezing, pinching, hugging, kissing, and pushing. So crazy!! When he was old enough to understand he would cry when she would get too close to him, knowing what was coming. These last couple weeks I have finally seen them enjoying each other. I think Isabelle has lightened up a bit and Karter has toughened up A LOT! (He hasn't had much of a choice in the matter.) I haven't been able to capture a great picture of them together since the day he was born. Finally I took one that I just love. Laughing and smiling, having so much fun! I just know they will be such great friends.
I love, love, love my kids reading books. I set the kids up with library books right before bed. With our crazy summer schedule we haven't been reading in the evenings as much as we normally do. Lots of rushed evenings trying to get the kids to bed since we were up too late. It was great to pull out the books tonight and watch them enjoy!!
We decided to hold off on his big party and are planning to have it sometime in the next couple weeks. We just celebrated with our little family. He completely devoured his cake, so fun to watch!! Sock Monkeys was the theme and we will have more decorations at his future party.
