Here are some more pictures. They completely gutted the kitchen the next day. These are a couple photos of the kitchen with the new walls. Below you can see the new opening that they cut out of the wall. Through the opening you can see the front door.

This view is what is left of our bay window, where the dining table used to be. The window is now cut out for a door.
Here is a view of our kitchen from the family room. We have this lovely plastic up and a refrigerator in the middle of it all. Wednesday and Thursday the electrician was here putting in all our new outlets, cutting holes for our new lights, and wiring and adding some new outdoor oulets. I cannot tell you how excited I am to see this moving along. It is a mess, we are living in chaos, and it is sooooo stressful!! BUT, I can't help being excited through all of it!! I just feel great about all the choices that we have made and can't wait to see the final product.

It has begun....

After waiting for so long, this is what our home looked like after the first day of the remodel. Yesterday they built our new walls, and today they gutted the entire kitchen!! Its so fun to watch it move forward so quickly and so much to do to keep up. Still need to choose the sink, faucet, drawer pulls, trim, french doors, floors, countertops......Oh my, I better get to making some decisions. My camera's batteries died before I was able to upload all the photos, so this is the only one that I have. I will post more soon. So, I thought you might like to see a couple of photos of these two guys.
Karter brought this comb to Steve the other night wanting him to comb his hair.
So relaxed and happy sitting with his dad. This guy is so sweet and happy!! BUT, when he gets upset or wants something, wow, things change a bit. He is either hot or cold in his response, there is no middle ground. Lately we have entered the difficult stage where Karter wants something and he just isn't able to tell us what it is. Lots of crying and tears as we try to figure out what he needs. Frustrating for all of us.
Oh, but look at that face, those eyes, how could I ever be frustrated with him? I just want to snuggle and kiss his baby face, enjoy every moment. Love, love, love this boy.
Do you think this guy looks like his dad?? I need to find a baby picture of Steve, I would love to find one of Grandpa Moon. I think Karter has so much Moon in his looks.

Oh Yes, We Are Excited!

Can you believe Halloween is less then a week away??!! I just can't believe it is already here, the year is just flying by! We are very excited to get all dressed up and eat lots of candy! We have been seeing lots of black and orange, eating lots of apples, and have pulled out our gloves, scarves, and sweaters. Lots of talking about costumes. parties, and treats.

I love this time of year. We are also excited that our plans FINALLY passed and we have permits to start our kitchen this Monday!! A little nervous to have our lives turned upside down for awhile, but excited to know that our kitchen will be that much closer to finished. Just planning to take it one day at a time.

A Very, Very Happy Birthday

Such a good day!! Steve stayed home with the kids all day and let have the day to myself. I scrapbooked all morning, which I haven't scrapbooked in sooooo long! I headed out to get a pumpkin facial at 11am, it was lovely. Then I spent the quiet afternoon visiting a few favorite places.

I drank one of these. Love their Pumpkin Smoothies!!

I went here for lunch.
I spent too much money here.

I read from this.
When I got home I scrapbooked a little more and received many birthday wishes via phoneand facebook. We had Big Town Heroes for dinner. Steve and the kids made me a pound cake with strawberries and whipped cream. I received some fun gifts the kids picked out for me from Target. How could I not have such a wonderful day with such thoughtful little people in my life and one very thoughtful husband! Thank you all for such a wonderful day.

An Ax, A Man, and A Tree

What more do I need to say?? He was so excited to cut this tree down, so proud that it fell right where he wanted it to fall, and so happy to use the chain saw to cut up wood for our first fire in our fireplace.
Let me tell you, it was a huge tree. I sat at the window and watched, making sure the kids stayed in the house and praying that the wind didn't make the tree fall on our home.
Before I called the kids inside, Steve let Jakob swing the ax a few times!! Scary!! I was not
aware of this till I saw the photos later. Glad he is my cautious boy. Hope Steve won't be giving Isabelle an ax anytime soon.

Our Newest Addition

Our friends found this kitty outside in their driveway!! They put up a bunch of signs and no one claimed him. They thought to ask us if we were interested in having a kitty. We jumped at the opportunity!! About 10 minutes after they called Jakob and I drove over to pick up our newest addition. The kids say that he looked liked Mittens off of the movie Bolt. Isabelle didn't meet him until the next morning. She was excited at first but then cried when I told her he was a boy. "I want a girl kitty," was tearfully exclaimed. She calmed down and started calling him "the boy kitty Mittens." We decided to name him Jack.
He seems to be a good little kitty. He has been going in his litter box from the very first day. We found a couple of accidents the first couple of days, but nothing since. He is great with the kids. He puts up with Isabelle holding, carrying, and loving him all day long. I didn't realize how much my kids would love having a kitty until we got Jack. So glad he is a part of our world now.

This Guy

This little guy has still been waking up at night. He seems to get up around 4:00 - 4:30 am. My pattern has been to feed him a bottle and put him back to bed. Well, it is time for my almost 15 month old to start sleeping through the night.
I was given this book from a lady in my old ward when I had just had Jakob. I have loved it and used it with my older two kids. Jakob started sleeping 12 hour nights at 2 1/2 months and Isabelle started sleeping 10-12 hour nights at 4 1/2 months.

Basically it teaches you the importance of sleep and why your child should sleep. It helps you recognize the signs your child shows when they are ready to sleep. He emphasizes getting your baby on a sleep schedule. It states the importance of consistency in bedtime routines and where your child sleeps. And, it teaches that letting your child cry it out is a okay. The crying part is hard. Realizing how important sleep is to your child and that socially they will cry because they want to be with people over sleep helps make it easier. Babies don't understand how important sleep is and we as parents need to make sure they get it.

So, I know that this system works but frankly I was too exhausted with Karter to do everything that was required to make it work. I did enough and over time (it took a bit longer with him) he got on a great schedule except for his nighttime wake-up. Well, this last week we decided to do the work to change this. I have had 3-4 nights where he has been up crying (screaming) for 1-2 hours. It is so hard to not go into him, especially when I'm tired, but I have stayed strong. He has also had 1-2 nights this week where he has slept through the night. So wonderful to go to bed and know that I can sleep until the morning. He seems well rested the mornings that he has slept all night. He wakes up happy and content. I'll let you know how long it takes to break him of this nighttime waking. I know the older they are the harder it is for them to lose a habit. So, I leave you with thoughts of many more restful nights to come.
