Our Garden 2012

My SIL Erin asked me a few weeks ago if we had planted our garden.  We hadn't, but it looked like we had with all that was growing in this lovely corner of our yard.  Lets just say a few weeks ago it was weeds, weeds, and more weeds.  I have to say that I have been slowly, very slowly working on the garden.  With the pregnancy, this has falling down the list on my list of to-dos.  It is still on the list, many things have falling completely off the list, it is just low on the list.  I'm not exactly sure how this is going to go this year with the modified bedrest aspect of my pregnancy and having my baby during harvest time, but we are forging ahead.  The pictures below show my first attempt, taken a few weeks ago, at weeding and planting one bed with some tomatoe plants.

As of last week I have planted 3 of the small beds and one of large beds.  I'm halfway there and yes we are in June already.  We have planted tomatoes (and have already lost 3 plants since I haven't put cages around all of them and little people have stepped on them), radishes, squash, cucumbers, carrots, and beets.  I have one of the smaller beds weeded, thank you Jakob, so I just have to weed and plant a few more.  I'm just taking it one day at a time.  We will see how much I get done in the next week and a half, after that, what's done is done, and we will call it good for this year.  We will see how it goes with Steve and the kids watering, weeding, and harvesting what comes up.  If I can keep off permanent bedrest I'm sure I will wonder out there every so often, but I know I want be much help, needing to take it easy and all.  Dreaming of a fabulous garden this next year, but for this year we will take what we get, and love what we are able to do.
