Weekly Art With Kids | Jeweled Bubble Wands

This was a fun activity, super simple, and used material we don't normally use.  You will need heavy gauge wire and some jewels and perhaps a couple of jewelry working tools.

I guess this was a sit on the table type of craft and that is exactly what they decided to do.

I bent the wire into the bubble wand shape, leaving the handle of the wands free to add the jewels.  The kids added the jewels one by one.  Some of the jewels we had would not fit on the wire, but most would.

When they finished, I bent the end of the handle and pinched it closed to keep the jewels in place.  These were so much fun to make and turned out so cute.  Simple, quick, and easy.  I made one to and could see myself making quite a bit more.  Perfect in their imperfections.

We experimented with blowing bubble and it didn't work to well.  I'm hoping it was because our bubble solution was super inexpensive and old.  We will buy some more and see how they work.  We had lots of fun trying to blow bubbles with our new pretty wands.

Project Life 2013 | Weeks 36 - 39

Here are our September 2013 pages.  I used mostly cards from the Seafoam Edition and a couple from a Studio Calico Project Life Kit.  Week 36 was the first week of school.

The page below is where I recorded our annual back to school dinner.  So fun!  Using the page protector and square inserts from the Project Life Just Add Color Edition.

Here is where we documented the first day of school.  Yes, we coordinated in our new school clothes.

Week 37 is where I recorded A Week In The Life.  Since I will be making (still haven't put it together) an album of this entire week, I chose to document it in this year's album by choosing a photo for each day of the week.  I used Ali Edward's Overlays.  Super simple and I love the effect of seeing them all grouped together.

Week 38.  Love the color combination on this page.  Just a normal week.

Week 39.  All photos on this page, lots to choose from.

A Hike to Pittock Mansion

Loved our hike to Pittock Mansion today.  Love the happy attitude we all had,  no complaints were heard throughout the entire 5 mile hike.  Loved knowing this happened because of the promise of  icecream for those that did not complain.  Loved seeing that it worked.  Loved all the hand holding.  Loved the green, the forest, the fresh air.  Loved the hills and feeling my body move and work hard to climb to the top.  Loved my 5 year old's observation, upon reaching the top of the hike and entering the parking lot of Pittock Mansion he said, "Why didn't we just park here?"

Loved the view from the top and the lunch we all made before we left and had just enough to satisfy us all.  Loved the family selfie.   Loved running and skipping down the hill with my family.  Loved my baby boy who fell asleep in the back of the stroller on the hike down.  Loved being in the moment, not being stressed, experience the day without worry or an agenda.  Loved exploring a new to us place in Portland and crossing a goal off my 2014 list for the year.  Loved that it wasn't that big of a deal when we realized that neither Steve nor I had brought our wallets and couldn't stop by Salt and Straw.  (We have never been and I so want to go.)  Loved knowing we would save it for next time and that everyone accepted that.  Loved this entire summer day.

Weekly Art With Kids | Sunflower Paper Plates

This was such a fun project to do with the kids.  I found the tutorial for this here.  They painted and glued and had so much fun with this.

Creating sometimes brings out the giggles.  It is that fun.

I cut up the petals by folding the paper in half.  One wanted an orange petals for their flower, one wanted a yellow.

I loved how they glued on the petals.  I would have tried to glue them straight.  Children are so creative, organic in their creations.  Loved how these turned out.

Working through the list of summer crafts below.  You can find the post on planning these crafts here.  Next week, bubble wands.

Project Life 2013 | Weeks 34 - 35

I'm sharing the second part of our August 2013 pages today.  Above is Week 34.  I did some fun inserts this week.  The insert below were photos of driving home from Utah.

We went with Steve to do a job in The Dalles and stayed and played a bit.  It was a fun day.

These two pages below are where I recorded a day in our summer life.  I have some journaling for morning, afternoon, and evening sharing the things we did throughout the day.  It was just a typical summer day here at home.

Here is Week 35's page.  Most of the cards used throughout these pages are from the Studio Calico Project Life kits.  I really love the color combination of teal green, orange, and yellow.
