Book Report || September 2015
I feel like my fingers are in so many books right now. Not really a problem, too many great books to read, but I need to start finishing some of them. I was able to finish a few this month.
Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King
My first Stephen King novel I've read. This was a short story of a man convicted of murdering his wife that was sent to prison and described the life that he lived there and what became of him through the eyes of another convicted murderer. I'm sure most have seen the movie, which was even better then the book, but the book was really good. I've never wanted to read anything by this author, since I do not enjoy the horror genre, but I was convinced to try his non horror fiction, and I have very much enjoyed them. Actually I started 11/22/63 first, which I'm really enjoying, and almost finished with it, it is just much longer.
Velma Still Cooks In Leeway by Vinita Hampton Wright
I fell in love with this story. The story of a woman that lived in the small town of Leeway her whole life. A wonderfully woven together redemptive tale of faith, love, mystery, and community. I can't wait to read more from this author.
Five Little Peppers and How They Grew by Margaret Sidney
Such a sweet old fashioned tale that chronicles the lives of these five siblings as they struggle through life's ups and down together as a family. Such a great read aloud.
Five Children and It by E. Nesbit
A delightful story of 5 siblings who find a sand fairy that grants them wishes. An old fashioned tale that was enjoyed by all of us. If you haven't read Edith Nesbit, you must. I hadn't heard of her growing up, so I was so surprised to discover her on my own and I'm so enjoying reading her books with my children.
I'm finishing up 11/22/63, Station Eleven, Don Quixote, 168 Hours, and The Pilgrim's Progress. I'm also finishing up Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and The Mysterious Benedict Society with the kids.
