January Book Report

Loved this book!  A daughter shares how her father read to her every night for 9 years.  She shares stories of her life that celebrate the importance and pure joy of reading aloud.  Planning to do a full review here soon.

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie KondoTThis was a Christmas gift from my husband, one that I was so excited for.  This was a fun read and made me want to pull out and get rid of so many items in my home.  I loved the idea of surrounding myself with items that I enjoyed.

I very much enjoyed this tale.  Emily reminds me so much of Anne, but her character seems a bit sadder.  I have heard this story described as being compared to Anne of Green Gables but a bit darker.  I'm looking forward to reading its sequels later this year.

This one was heartbreaking, beautiful, and inspirational.  A story of a boy named August, a regular 5th grader who was born with a facial difference that affected how others saw him.  A quick read that I read for my upcoming book group.

An inspirational read on staying fit after babies and as a mother.  I enjoyed the story and the practical encouragement and ideas given throughout the book.

Little tidbits of wisdom were shared throughout this fable.  A story of a man who while stranded in the Sahara Desert meet a little prince.  This was a wonderful story to read to my kids.

Next Up…Finishing up Les Miserables, Days of the Living Christ, The Distant Hours, and Deliberate Motherhood.  Starting Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand.

Starting…Roald Dahl's Tales of the Unexpected with the kids.
