This was such a fun read. This is basically a story of a girl during her first her of college. Rowell's books are real, the love stories aren't spectacular, but more about friendship and building a relationship through experiences shared. I listened to this as I drove around in the car. Lots of language in this one, not sure how I feel about reading (listening to) that, not my favorite and I could most definitely do without it.
Loved this book. Just a collection of Madeleine L'Engle's thoughts on life, God, writing, and relationships. I absolutely loved it and am excited to read her other writings. She talks about her struggle to publish A Wrinkle in Time and her simple life as a writer, mother, wife, and friend.
This book is epic, I'm not sure what to say in a short review about it. I was determined to read the unabridged version and it took me literally years of picking it up and putting it down. Masterfully written, it changed the way I look at humanity and the human struggle. The lessons I learned were ones of compassion, love, and forgiveness. I do want to read a well written abridged version that just focuses on just the story, I'll report back on what I find.
I'm finishing this one up with my 11 year old and I couldn't be happier sharing this adventure with him. I had only read this book once years ago, and though I remember the key points in the story, I had forgotten many of the details, making much of the story delightfully surprising as I read each chapter. I feel like he is old enough to "get it" as I hoped he would be. Not the story per se, but the complexity of the plot and the struggle of each character.
I'm reading this as a daily devotional and so enjoying it.
I'm also reading this as a daily devotional. I didn't know it was coming out this year until it came out and I bought a copy for a friend's birthday and one for myself. So good!
