I found this lovely red cabinet at the Goodwill a few years ago and snatched it up right away. I absolutely adored the color and it fit perfectly in our home. I tucked it away downstairs where it house the kids craft supplies. Now a few years later I have been loving neutrals and decided it was time to paint this cabinet. White is my the color of chose. It always amazes me what a little paint can do.
I keep my process of painting very simple. I lay out a tarp, have my handy husband help me move the piece of furniture, remove the hardwood, I wipe it down with soapy water, let it dry for a few minutes, and then I spray paint. I shake up the cans of paint quite a bit to be sure the paint is mixed and ready. I use a back and forth motion to cover evenly. I'll spray on a first coat, let it dry for 1/2 an hour, and spray on second coat, then I will just walk around and look at the furniture, spraying more on spots that need more coverage. Thats it. I keep it super simple and I get it done. I'll leave it out to dry and bring it inside in the evening. I'll wait at least 24 hours before I put the hardware back on.
I wanted it to sit in our entryway, but when we placed it there is was way too wide. I moved the yellow table to the entry and placed the white cabinet in our living room. It now is filled with our extra blankets. I love the solid white cabinet, it fits perfectly in this room. Never doubt what a few cans of spray paint can do.
So beautiful! I've got some things I need to repaint. Just a matter of finding the motivation to get it done. This helps!
